Summary

A new test method to evaluate the superconducting properties of multi-strand cable in high magnetic field under transverse compressive loading was proposed and the performance was demonstrated successfully. It is a kind of coil-test in high magnetic field with compressive load which simulated an electro-magnetic force in cable-in-conduit. The closed loop cable in a form of a small coil with several turns was excited by induction using an outer superconducting magnet. The magnet provided constant change in magnetic flux and a constant voltage in the closed circuit. This voltage was maintained and balanced with sum of induction voltage, joint voltage and superconducting cable voltage. By analyzing the each voltage, the superconducting properties of the cable could be characterized in total.
