Summary

The paper first describe the features of Cryogenerator-Distillation column hybrid system where liquid air is produced in the cryogenerator and is then distilled into liquid nitrogen and oxygen and PSA-Cryogenerator hybrid system for producing liquid nitrogen from pure nitrogen. An attempt is made towards standardization of Pressure Swing Adsorption system built for the purpose for feeding an indigenous cryogenerator. The entire experimental setup for a PSA-Cryogenerator hybrid system has been successfully assembled for the present study. The Cryogenerator, comprising of regenerator, condenser, expander, cold box, is used for producing refrigeration based on Reverse Stirling Cycle below 73K. The nitrogen gas gets liquefied when it comes in contact with the cold surface of the condenser which is considered to be 80% efficient. The overall power requirement for the PSA-Cryogenerator hybrid system for liquefaction of nitrogen at the rate of 10litres/hour is found to be 21kW.
