A STANDARD DEVICE FOR CALIBRATING CALORIMETER TEST ROOMS: ACCURACY DETERMINATION.

Author(s) : JONES B. W., BECK B. T.

Summary

CALORIMETER TEST ROOMS ARE USED FOR PERFORMANCE TESTING AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION EVALUATION. SOME MEANS TO CALIBRATE THE CALORIMETER ROOM IS REQUIRED. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT WAS TO DEVELOP AND BUILD SUCH A DEVICE, WHICH CAN BE REPRODUCED. DESIGNREQUIREMENTS ARE: A VARIABLE COOLING CAPACITY RANGING FROM 1.2 TO 10.5 KILOW WITH CAPACITY CONTROL OF + OR -0.5% OF SET POINT AND A MEASUREMENT ACCURACY OF + OR -0.5% OVER THE ENTIRE RANGE. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO ENSURE THAT CLAIMS FOR ACCURACY ARE VALID. THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THE DEVICES AND METHODS USED TO ATTAIN THIS ACCURACY AND THE SCHEMES USED TO ENSURE CONTINUED ACCURACY IN ACTUAL USE.
