Summary

STARTING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE COMPRESSOR ARE AS IMPORTANT AS ITS PERFORMANCE IN STEADY STATE OPERATION. MOMENTS ACTING ON A SHAFT OF THE COMPRESSOR ARE CLASSIFIED AND ANALYSED THEORETICALLY TAKING ACCOUNT OF THE FORCE OF A SPRING, THE MASSES OF THE SHAFT AND THE ROTOR AND THE MAGNETIC PULL FORCE OF THE MOTOR. THE RESULTS SHOW A HIGH CORRELATION WITH THE EXPERIMENTALLY MEASURED STARTING LOAD TORQUE. THE TORQUE RESULTING FROM THE MAGNETIC PULL FORCE ACTING AGAINST THE VANE DIRECTION IS SMALLER THAN THE TORQUE WHEN IT ACTS IN THE VANE DIRECTION. (BULL. JSME, JP., 29, N 254, 1986/08, 2733-2734.
