THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES A < TOTAL-ENERGY COMBINED INSTALLATION > CONSISTING OF 3,750 KILOWATT ABSORBER WATER COOLERS, AN ICE-BANK SYSTEM, AND 4,480 KILOWATT CENTRAL HEATING-POWER PLANTS DRIVEN BY NATURAL-GAS ENGINES. MOREOVER, AN ADDITIONAL, RECIPROCATING WATER COOLER IS RUN AT NIGHT, WHEN ELECTRICITY RATES ARE LOWER. THIS ALL LED TO CONSIDERABLE SAVINGS IN ENERGY, AS THE AUTHOR DEMONSTRATES WITH SOME FIGURES. ACCORDING TO HIS CALCULATIONS, THE ACQUISITION COSTS OF THE EQUIPMENT WOULD BE PAID OFF IN A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS. M. C.
