A weather information-based intelligent ice storage control system.

Author(s) : TSE W. L., SO A. T. P.

Summary

The firm belief is that ice charging and discharging should be tightly coupled with the actual weather in order to achieve an optimal goal where accurate weather prediction and cloud tracking are the major tools. Such information can be freely downloaded from the Internet. A useful linguistic-numerical conversion scheme has been established based on statistical analyses for the past two years. The authors have also developed a chiller capacity-based control algorithm for ice discharging. Three cases have been simulated, and the authors concluded that substantial energy saving and excellent performance can be guaranteed with this new control system.
