Summary

RECENTLY, THE ABSORPTION MACHINE HAS BEGUN TO BE USED FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING OF LARGE BUILDINGS. HOWEVER, MORE IMPROVEMENT OF THE ABSORBER IS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE A BETTER COP AND TO REDUCE THE WHOLE SIZE AND THE INSTALLATION SPACE. THE AUTHORS MADE AN ANALYSIS OF THE ABSORPTION PROCESS FOR A VERTICAL FLAT PLATE. AN ANALYTICAL MODEL IS FORMULATED BY ASSUMING THAT THE FLOW IS LAMINAR AND THAT THE ABSORBENT IS THERMODYNAMICALLY IN EQUILIBRIUM AT THE SURFACE. NEAR THE ENTRANCE REGION, THE CALCULATED TEMPERATURE PROFILES DIFFER SLIGHTLY, BUT BECOME EQUAL RAPIDLY AS FLOW LENGTH INCREASES. THE AVERAGE CONCENTRATIONS AGREE WELL.
