Summary

The paper presents the procedures followed in the preparation of and the main superconducting properties in polycrystalline bulk YBCO samples. A method of measuring the acoustic emission from superconducting ceramics is described. The acoustic emission due to the temperature rise during the transition from the superconducting to the normal state was recorded. Investigations were carried out for the case of current flow as well as for the non-current state. The acoustic signals are connected with the occurrence of voltage drops in the sample.
