Summary

A permanent magnet floats stably above a high-critical temperature superconductor due to levitation and transverse forces. These transverse interactions between an YBCO pellet and a permanent magnet structure are experimentally studied in the paper. The different factors playing a part in the transverse forces are investigated. Several permanent magnet structures have been compared.
