Summary
The sound emission of compressors depends on the type of compressor, the operating conditions, and the refrigerant. Comparative measurements of the sound spectrum showed that the examined Octogon reciprocating compressors are better than scroll compressors as far as the air-conditioning, medium- and low-temperature ranges are concerned. Sound emissions and vibrations have already been significantly reduced by applying special design features and using 4-cylinder technology from a displacement range of 18 m3/h upwards.
