THERE IS AN INCREASING DEMAND IN INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DOMAINS, MAINLY FOR CRYOINSTALLATIONS OPERATING AT THE LEVEL OF THE BOILING POINT OF HELIUM, 4.2 K. HELIUM PLANT ARE BASED ON CLAUDE'S PRINCIPLE WITH THE EXPANSION AND STAGE JOULE-THOMSON MACHINE. COOLING CIRCUITS ARE USED FOR HEAT EXHAUST, MAINLY COMPRESSOR HEAT. A COMBINATION OF COOLING WITH AIR, WATER AND CHILLED WATER APPEARED VERY ADVANTAGEOUS. THE USE OF RESIDUAL HEAT AND SAFETY MEASURES FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT ARE DISCUSSED AND SOLUTIONS ARE PROPOSED.
