Summary
A new class of materials allows the design of competitive desiccant-based cooling technologies. The most significant characteristic these desiccants share is a moderate Brunauer Type I isotherm, generally referred to as Type 1M. System designs employing Type 1M desiccants can meet and exceed the performance of conventional electric-driven unitary air conditioners.
