Summary
The tests demonstrate that a hybrid system (vapour compression cooling and desiccant cooling) yields better COP than conventional vapour compression only systems. The reason that the hybrid system is superior in performance to conventional systems lies in the fact that desiccant dehumidification and evaporative cooling change the inlet states of the air entering into vapour compression system. Furthermore, the effects of dehumidification and evaporative cooling are analyzed in the paper.
