Summary

TEST DATA ON VO-BLP AIR COOLERS WITH A DUAL-METAL HEAT EXCHANGE SURFACE, WORKING UNDER FROSTING CONDITIONS. A RELATIONSHIP IS PROPOSED FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE AERODYNAMIC RESISTANCE OF THE TUBE BUNDLE AS FROST DEPOSITS ON THE HEAT EXCHANGE SURFACE. THE ADVANTAGES OF THESE COOLERS COMPARED TO STANDARD AIR COOLERS ARE SHOWN: THEIR AERODYNAMIC AND THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO REACH THE END OF THE FREEZING CYCLE WITHOUT INTERMEDIARY DEFROSTING OF THE UNITS, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT POWER SAVINGS.
