Summary
The advantages of air conditioning for users are defined, and two, of the air-conditioning systems which are used, are studied. The water heat pump is described: principle, operation during different seasons, and design, construction and operating advantages. The fan-coil system is then presented: principle, association with heat recovery equipment, electronic control, and advantages. Examples are given of heat-pump plants. The maintenance problems are examined. Finally the market for air conditioning is described, together with regulations and the role of ADEME (French national Agency for the environment and energy preservation). J.L.
