Summary

TWO ROOMS WERE CHOSEN TO MEASURE ROOM ATTENUATION CHARACTERISTICS. BOTH HAD ONE WALL THAT WAS ESSENTIALLY GLASS WITH THE REMAINING WALLS PLASTER BOARD OR PLYWOOD OVER PLASTER BOARD. THE LOCATION OF NOISE SOURCE AND MEASUREMENT POSITIONS ARE SHOWN IN THE FIGURES. RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION SUGGEST THAT A UNIFORM 10 DECIBELS ROOM ATTENUATION FACTOR WITH A REALISTIC TOLERANCE WINDOW MAY BE A PRACTICAL TOOL FOR THE DESIGNING MECHANICAL ENGINEER.
