Summary

THE ROLE OF VENTILATION IN AN OPERATING THEATRE IS STATED AND THE TWO AIR DIFFUSION SYSTEMS USED ARE REPORTED: CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS WITH CONDUCTION AND DISPLACEMENT SYSTEMS WITH QUASI-LAMINARY MOVEMENT. AIR DIFFUSION TESTS IN CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS WERE CARRIED OUT IN A ROOM MODEL AT 1/1.57 SCALE WITH DIFFERENT SUPPLY AND RETURN UNITS. THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN AS ISOTHERMS FOR AIR REHEATING IN A VERTICAL PLANE PASSING ALONG THE OPERATING TABLE AND THE BEST DEVICE IS MENTIONED. J.L.
