AIR DIFFUSION IN ROOMS WITH CEILING-MOUNTED OBSTACLES AND TWO-DIMENSIONAL ISOTHERMAL FLOW.

Author(s) : NIELSEN P. V.

Summary

CEILING MOUNTED OBSTACLES MAY DEFLECT THE WALL JET FROM AN AIR TERMINAL DEVICE DOWN INTO THE OCCUPIED ZONE. EXPERIMENTS SHOW THAT THE CRITICAL HEIGHT OF THE OBSTACLE IS A FUNCTION OF THE SIZE OF THE AIR TERMINAL DEVICE, THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THIS DEVICE AND THE OBSTACLE AND THE ROOM HEIGHT. A CEILING OBSTACLE CHANGES AIR DIFFUSION WHEN THE JET IS NOT DEFLECTED. THE JET VELOCITY AND THE MAXIMUM VELOCITY IN THE OCCUPIED ZONE ARE ALSO CONSIDERABLY REDUCED.
