Summary

Ammonia-water absorption refrigeration plants are attractive from the standpoint of electric power savings and the non-use of CFCs. The plant can be an economical alternative to compression refrigeration for temperature ranges from 0 to -60 deg C, using suitable waste heat or oil and natural gas. Its attractive features, however, are not well known. Latest improvements and developments are presented with examples of installations.
