An advanced microprocessor-based multi-variable/multi-objective control design for lithium bromide absorption water chillers.

Author(s) : SIBIK L. L.

Summary

The paper presents a new control strategy for absorption water chillers. A multi-variable/multi-objective control approach capable of independently controlling chiller capacity and solution concentration has been demonstrated on single and double effect lithium bromide water chillers. The multi-variable control approach continuously optimizes the absorption cycle to achieve the best operating efficiency. If exposed to extreme operating conditions, the chiller's control objectives will transition from optimizing efficiency and capacity control to maintaining chiller parameters within safe operating limits.
