AN EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY FOR INVESTIGATION OF INTERIOR CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER.

Author(s) : SPITLER J. D.

Summary

THE PREDICTION OF CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN BUILDINGS IS AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF BUILDING DESIGN AND SIMULATION PROGRAMS. CURRENT MODELS AND HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS APPEAR TO BE BASED ON EXPERIMENTS PERFORMED MORE THAN 40 YEARS AGO, AND ARE NOT VERY RELIABLE. IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN BUILDINGS, A FULL-SCALE EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY WAS DEVELOPED WITH SEVERAL UNIQUE FEATURES. THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, AND CAPABILITIES OF THIS FACILITY.
