Summary

Recently, several proposals for classification of ventilation design requirements according to indoor air quality have been presented. The existing proposals deal only with rooms with no major contaminants sources. The aim of the study is to create air quality guidelines for all indoor environments. The air quality is classified into five categories taking into account both human requirements and practical aspects, such as current concentration levels. As an example, the classification scheme is applied to formaldehyde.
