Summary

This article presents a mathematical model that is based on the fundamental equations of conservation of mass and energy to describe the airflow patterns and the process of its heat and mass transfer for a horizontal turbulent buoyant jet. The model was successfully tested for one island open display cabinet, and could be used to optimize the design and manufacturing display cabinets, for example the diameter of outlet grills and the dimensions of cabinets, for manufacturers, and predict the operating performance, such as the heights and shapes of stacked goods with the heat transfer of the cooling air curtain, for supermarkets that use them.
