THE INCREASE IN SHIPMENTS OF UNITARY HEAT PUMPS OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS IS TRIPLE THE INCREASE FOR THE TOTAL UNITARY MARKET. HEAT PUMP DESIGNERS HAVE ACHIEVED CONSIDERABLE GAINS IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY BY UTILIZING IMPROVED COMPRESSORS AND HEAT EXCHANGERS. IN AN ATTEMPT TO REALIZE ADDITIONAL GAINS, DESIGNERS ARE NOW FOCUSING ATTENTION UPON OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE HEAT PUMP SYSTEM. RESEARCH IS BEING CONDUCTED TO QUANTIFY PERFORMANCE OF THE FOUR-WAY REFRIGERANT REVERSING VALVE.
