Summary

THE COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN A THREE PARAMETER FIT, WHICH ASSUMES A NORMAL DENSITY DISTRIBUTION OF CRITICAL CURRENTS, AND THE FAMILIAR EMPIRICAL TWO PARAMETER LAW IS DEMONSTRATED BY APPLYING THEMBOTH TO THE ANALYSIS OF DATA OBTAINED IN THE CHARACTERIZATION OF A NIOBIUM-TITANIUM STANDARD REFERENCE MATERIAL. DATA TAKEN AT 4.24 AND 2.21 K ARE USED TO ILLUSTRATE THAT THE THREE PHYSICAL PARAMETERS OBEY GENERAL SCALING LAWS AND TO OUTLINE THE PHYSICAL INTERPRETATION WHICH IS DERIVED FOR THE EMPIRICAL PARAMETERS. THE VALIDITY OF FLUX FLOW IN HIGH CURRENT DENSITY MATERIALS BEING CHARACTERIZED BY DEFECT MOTION WITH THE FLUX LINE LATTICE IS DEMONSTRATED.
