Summary
The advantages of sheet metal heat exchangers in building engineering are their energy saving operation, smaller sizes, long life and low maintenance requirements. Their heat exchange factor falls between 2,000-10,000 W/m².K. The main types of sheet heat exchangers, their structure and thermal design are considered. They can be applied in district heating systems as hot water or steam heat exchangers, in heating of air conditioning systems as evaporator or condenser, in buildings as flow heaters, utility hot water suppliers as well as in solar heating.
