APPLICATIONS OF OPTIMAL CONTROL TO CHILLED WATER SYSTEMS WITHOUT STORAGE.

Author(s) : BRAUN J. E.

Summary

OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES ARE APPLIED TO ANALYZING THE OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE OF CHILLED WATER SYSTEMS THAT DO NOT HAVE SIGNIFICANT THERMAL STORAGE. THE IMPORTANT UNCONTROLLED VARIABLES THAT AFFECT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMAL CONTROL SETTINGS ARE IDENTIFIED. CONTROL GUIDELINES USEFUL TO PLANT ENGINEERS FOR IMPROVED CONTROL PRACTICES ARE DEVELOPED. IN ADDITION, RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS CONCERNING BOTH CONTROL AND DESIGN UNDER OPTIMAL CONTROL OF CHILLED WATER SYSTEMS ARE PRESENTED.
