Summary

ASSOCIATED DAIRIES HAVE DEVELOPED A SYSTEM FOR HEATING THEIR STORES WITH MINIMAL ENERGY INPUT. FIRST IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE IN LIGHTING BY USING HIGH EFFICIENCY LIGHT SOURCES. THE CENTRALISATION OF REFRIGERATOR COMPRESSION PLANT IN A MAIN COMPRESSOR ROOM HAS ENABLED WASTE HEAT TO BE USED FOR SPACE HEATING IN LOCALISED AREAS. A DIAGRAM SHOWS THE STANDARD ARRANGEMENT FOR HEAT RECOVERY FOR ALL NEW STORES. INCREASING REFRIGERATED SALES REQUIREMENTS SHOW THAT MORE HEAT IS AVAILABLE THAN IS NEEDED FOR STORE HEATING AND OTHER POSSIBILITIES ARE BEING EXAMINED. A TOTAL OF 12 SYSTEMS ARE NOW INSTALLED. (INT.
