Summary

IN DAIRY PLANTS CORRECTLY MANAGING REFRIGERATION INSTALLATIONS AND REFRIGERATED STORES, ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION FOR REFRIGERATION DUTIES SHOULD NOT EXCEED 25-30% OF THE TOTAL ELECTRICITY REQUIREMENTS. MEASURES TO CONSERVE ELECTRICITY IN REFRIGERATION ARE CONSIDERED WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE REMOVAL OF LUBRICATING OIL FROM THE REFRIGERANT AND ITS REGENERATION FOR REUSE, IMPROVEMENT OF INSULATION OF CHAMBERS, INSTALLATION OF AUTOMATIC DOORS AND CURTAINS, USE OF DIRECT-EXPANSION REFRIGERATION IN DECENTRALIZED SYSTEMS, UTILIZATION OF HEAT GENERATED IN REFRIGERATION PLANTS, USE OF HEAT PUMPS, AND DIRECT CONTACT FREEZING.
