Summary
Performance of a direct gas-fired desiccant cooling system incorporating a type 1M desiccant and high temperature regeneration has been assessed. As a unit for treating outdoor air, the system offers considerable promise and, with improvements in heat exchanger and evaporative cooler effectiveness, could be cost competitive with existing vapour compression units currently being sold for this purpose.
