Type of article: Article

Summary

THE PAPER PRESENTS A STUDY ON HEAT TRANSFER IN PIPES CONDUCTED IN CONNECTION WITH INDIRECT COOLING OF SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS: IN INDIRECT COOLING OF MAGNETS BY NATURAL CIRCULATION, THE MAGNET IS COOLED BY LIQUID HELIUM FLOWING IN A PIPE WOUND AROUND THE MAGNET. THE PAPER INVESTIGATES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN, ON ONE HAND, THE MAXIMUM HELIUM FLOW-RATE AND ON THE OTHER HAND, THE DIAMETER, LENGTH AND INCLINATION OF THE COOLING PIPE, WHICH IS MADE OF COPPER.
