Summary
New electrohydrodynamic phenomena for promoting bubble generation and augmenting boiling heat transfer are introduced in the study. Test results reveal an enhancement factor for the boiling heat transfer with an applied electric field of approximately 8.5 times the maximum value obtained without an electric field. It was clarified that the bubbles were pushed against the bubble-injection surface by the vertical component of the electrostatic forces and became mobile due to the radial component.
