IN SUMMER OPERATION, THE ENERGY RECOVERED FROM COLD AIR EXTRACTED FROM THE AIR CONDITIONED ROOM IS USED FOR REDUCING THE ENTHALPY OF HOT HUMID EXTERNAL AIR. IN WINTER OPERATION, THE ENTHALPY OF EXTERNAL AIR IS INCREASED BY CONDITIONED AIR FROM THE ENVIRONMENT. ENERGY IS TRANSFERRED BETWEEN THE TWO FLOWS BY A HYGROSCOPIC WATER SALT SOLUTION. THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE PARTICULAR PLANT IN A LARGE HOSPITAL, APPLYING THE ABOVE-MENTIONED PROCESS: ITS CONTROL EQUIPMENT, ITS VARIOUS OPERATING CONDITIONS DURING THE YEAR AND ITS PERFORMANCE AND HEAT BALANCE.
