BOC on the cutting edge with LASOX: laser assisted oxygen cutting.
Author(s) : SHERIDAN D.
Type of article: Article
Summary
This document describes a laser assisted oxygen system, using a laser of 2 kW only. The point of impact on the thick plate to be cut is exposed to a beam of oxygen at supersonic speed, thus sustaining combustion. This process makes it possible to cut plates of approximately 100 mm (for shipbuilding applications for example). The history of the system's development by BOC is presented.
