AN EQUATION OF STATE IS GIVEN FOR FLUID MIXTURES OF SIMPLE, NONPOLAR COMPONENTS. BESIDES THE CONSTANTS OF THE EQUATION OF STATE FOR THE PURE FLUIDS, THE CRITICAL TEMPERATURES AND THE CRITICAL VOLUMES OF THE PURE FLUIDS, FOR EACH BINARY MIXTURE TWO BINARY INTERACTION PARAMETERS ARE REQUIRED. FOR THE SYSTEM METHANE-NITROGEN THE HIGH ACCURACY OF THE NEW EQUATION OF STATE IS DEMONSTRATED BY COMPARISON OF EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF VAPOUR-LIQUID EQUILIBRIA, DENSITIES AND EXCESS ENTHALPIES WITH CALCULATIONS USING THE NEW EQUATION AND WITH THOSE OF OTHER EQUATIONS OF STATE. THE NEW EQUATION MAY BE USED FOR MIXTURES INCLUDING MULTICOMPONENT MIXTURES UP TO 50 MPASCAL AND ABOUT 2.8 TIMES THE CRITICAL DENSITY.
