THE DETERMINATION OF SHAPE FACTORS FOR RADIATIVE EXCHANGE BETWEEN A HUMAN BODY AND THE INSIDE SURFACE OF A ROOM IS IMPORTANT FOR EVALUATING THEORETICAL COMFORT CONDITIONS. IN THIS PAPER AN ORIGINAL METHOD, BASED ON THE SIMPLIFICATION OF THE HUMAN BODY BEING A SPHEREIS PROPOSED ; THIS METHOD, UNLIKE THE FANGER ONE, WHICH INVOLVES THE USE OF GRAPHS, IS SUITABLE FOR COMPUTER CALCULATIONS AND A FORTRAN SUBROUTINE IS INCLUDED IN THE PAPER. THE VALUES CALCULATED BY THIS SUBROUTINE AND THE ONES BY THE FANGER METHOD ARE IN GOOD AGREEMENT. E. F.
