THE CASCADE SYSTEM OF TRANSVERSE VENTILATION OF LONG VEHICULAR TUNNELS CONSISTS IN DIVIDING THE TOTAL LENGTH OF AIR SUPPLY AND DISCHARGE DUCTS INTO A PLURALITY OF SECTIONS OF WHICH EACH IS EQUIPPEDWITH ITS INDIVIDUAL AXIAL FAN. EACH FAN HANDLES ITS RESPECTIVE AIR VOLUME AGAINST THE FRICTION HEAD OF ITS OWN SECTION, THE LAST SUCTION AND THE FIRST SUPPLY FAN BEING THE ONLY ONES TO HANDLE THE TOTAL AIR VOLUME AGAINST THE FRICTION HEAD OF THEIR SUBSECTION. THE RESULTING ENERGY SAVINGS ARE SHOWN IN A DIAGRAM AND ARE OF THE ORDER OF 15 TO 18%. F.L.L.
