Summary

AFTER TESTS CARRIED OUT IN MORE THAN 20 COPPER-MINE SHAFTS SUNK WITHIN THE PAST 20 YEARS IN AN UNSTABLE AQUEOUS MOUNTAIN, THE AA. DETERMINED THE CAUSES FOR THE DETERIORATION OF THE CASING OF SHAFTS SUNK BY FREEZING. THEY DREW UP RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE DETERIORATIONS OF CASING AND THE PHENOMENA OCCURRING IN FROZEN GROUND AND CASING. DETERIORATION CAN BE PREVENTED OR, AT LEAST, BE CONSIDERABLY REDUCED BY CONTROLLING THE FREEZING PROCESS DEPENDING ON REQUIREMENTS AND BY CONTROLLING THE FREEZING CASING AFTER THE METHOD ESTABLISHED AND CHECKED IN THE MINES OF THIS REGION.
