Summary

In central air conditioning, units treating various zones or premises are linked to a central cooling production and distribution system comprising several solutions: a "2-tube" solution comprising central production of chilled or hot water by a reversible unit; a "tubes and 2-wire" solution comprising central production and distribution of chilled water. Direct local electrical heating; a "4-tube" solution comprising central cooling and heating, along with distribution via chilled and hot-water networks. The author discusses these systems, along with constraints and applications limits of central production.
