Changes in research and development objectives for closed solid-sorption systems.

Author(s) : SPINNER B.

Summary

From 1993 to 1996, the author has studied the progress made in research on adsorption and gas reaction media, and the implementation of those media into fixed-bed reactors. They also conducted a system analysis of new processes. Their study showed that the changes have gone beyond improvements in the performance of traditional solid-sorption devices, such as air conditioners, and industrial and commercial refrigeration systems. New areas for the application of closed solid-sorption systems have appeared, including storage of hot/cold generation; instant high-capacity power output from such generation; and self managed system through specific properties of the material used. These new, yet unreported areas of application are of definite economic interest.
