Cooling with a sorption process in a high temperature environment.

Author(s) : GOETZ V., SPINNER B.

Summary

The feasibility of cooling in a high temperature environment (200 °C) is demonstrated. The practical application is the thermal management of the electronic cartridges used for data acquisition in petroleum wells. The process used is the resorption process working in the storage mode. According to the working thermodynamic constraints, the solid/gas couples selected are manganese chloride-ammonia and nickel chloride-ammonia. An experimental set-up allows simulation of the thermodynamic working conditions of the process under real conditions has been built. A cooling storage capacity of 230 Wh.kg or 125 kWh.m3 for the manganese chloride reactant has been experimentally measured.
