Summary

A new thermal energy storage system using Clathrate Hydrate Slurry (CHS) for building air-conditioning systems was developed for the first time in the world. The CHS system can contribute to energy conservation of buildings because the slurry is a latent heat storage material having a large cooling capacity and a melting point in the range of within 0 and 12?. This paper presents the properties of the CHS, features of CHS thermal energy storage system, and examples of application of the CHS system to an office building and a machine parts manufacturing factory.
