Summary

Hydrate technology is being developed for the storage and transport of natural gas. In order to have a more systematic research on the practical characteristics of gas hydrate cold storage to promote the application better, a small scale of gas hydrate cold storage apparatus with inner heat exchanger was designed and tested to conduct corresponding experimental study. Fundamental cold storage characteristics were analyzed; CO2 hydrates cold storage and cold release processes was studied; a novel way for CO2 gas hydrate steady formation was presented; stability of stored CO2 gas hydrate was investigated; it was found that CO2 gas hydrates can be considered as one of the most promising phase change materials for cold storage in air-conditioning systems for proper phase-change temperature range (0-10°C), and large fusion heat (500 kJ/kg).
