COLD AIR DISTRIBUTION.

Summary

COLD AIR DISTRIBUTION HAS BEEN USED WITH SEVERAL ICE STORAGE SYSTEMS. FOUR BUILDINGS HAVE BEEN MONITORED AND EVALUATED (TWO IN VIRGINIA, ONE IN ILLINOIS, AND ONE IN CALIFORNIA). THE RESULTS ARE REPORTED IN THE PAPER. THE DESIGN PARAMETERS AND ECONOMICS OF COLD AIR DISTRIBUTION REQUIRE AN EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVES BETWEEN FAN ENERGY AND ELECTRICAL DEMAND CHARGES, LARGER THERMAL STORAGE, AND THE ABILITY TO RESETROOM THERMOSTATS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF LOWER SPACE HUMIDITY AND TO SIZE AIR DISTRIBUTION COMPONENTS ACCURATELY TO ACTUAL ROOM/SPACE NEEDS. THE ADVANTAGES OF COLD AIR DISTRIBUTION AND ACTUAL FIELD PERFORMANCE ARE DISCUSSED.
