Commissioning: the key to HVAC system life and energy performance.
Author(s) : DONNELLY E.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Increasingly stringent requirements for buildings to be designed, constructed and operated to minimum energy performance measures places greater emphasis on the commissioning process for HVAC systems. The commissioning process can provide valuable performance benchmarks against which future performance can be compared to support optimal maintenance programs. Further, a truly effective commissioning process is best undertaken when informed by a detailed understanding of the design objectives of the building and services, allowing an assessment of whether the 'as-constructed' systems can achieve the performance objectives.
