COMPARATIVE STUDIES RELATING TO REMOVABLE INSULATED BODIES.

ETUDES COMPARATIVES PORTANT SUR DES CAISSES AMOVIBLES ISOTHERMES.

Author(s) : KUNZ W., JEHLE R.

Summary

CHANGES WERE MADE IN THE CONSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN OF TWO DIFFERENT REMOVABLE BODIES, AND THEIR EFFECTS ON THE COEFFICIENT K AND ON THE AIR LEAK RATE WERE MEASURED. A DEGRADATION OF UP TO 12% FOR THE COEFFICIENT K AND OF UP TO 42% FOR THE AIR LEAK RATE WAS NOTED. THE INFLUENCE OF THE CONSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN OF REINFORCING ELEMENTS WITHIN HOMOGENEOUS LAYERS OF INSULATING MATERIAL ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF HEAT TRANSITION WAS CALCULATED. THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM A SIMPLE ONE-DIMENSIONAL EVALUATION AND FROM A TWO-DIMENSIONAL FINITE ELEMENT CALCULATION METHOD WERE COMPARED. DIFFERENCES OF UP TO 36% WERE NOTED, AND THE INFLUENCE OF THE TYPE OF SECTION WAS REMARKABLY INSIGNIFICANT. THE INFLUENCE OF THE MATERIAL USED FOR REINFORCING A DOOR FRAME WAS CALCULATED. IT APPEARED THAT THE CHOICE OF MATERIAL IS OF DECISIVE IMPORTANCE.
