Summary
Refrigerated vehicles are affected by the ageing process. This phenomenon has always been studied from the comparison of the š¾ value of the in-service vehicles at twelve years of use with the š¾ value of their prototypes. This method stems from the current regulation for the international transport of perishable foodstuff and allows certifying a new refrigerated vehicle produced in series on the basis of its prototype. The vehicle produced in a series may have a different š¾ coefficient compared to its prototype due to reasons intrinsic to the production process or to discrepancies on the body itself. The estimation of this difference is an important issue for new refrigerated trucks certification as well as for the study of ageing. Previous studies highlighted this difference for newly manufactured semi-trailers and trucks. The same experimental assessment is proposed in this study for a representative number of refrigerated vans. A comparison with previous results is presented.
