Summary

A SPECIFIC CASE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO COMPARE THE COST OF DECENTRALISED ELECTRONIC CONTROL, FULLY CENTRALISED ELECTRONIC CONTROL, OR A MIXTURE OF BOTH, WITH TRADITIONAL SELF-REGULATING CONTROLS. THE ANALYSIS FAVOURS DECENTRALISED CONTROL MONITORED AND OVERRIDDEN BY A CENTRAL COMPUTER TO OPTIMIZE TOTAL PLANT OPERATION, BUT NO CALCULATIONS ARE GIVEN TO INDICATE THE INEFFICIENCY OF TRADITIONAL CONTROLS AGAINST WHICH THE COMPARISONS ARE MADE.
