Summary

Regeneration of solid desiccants by electro-osmosis effect has the virtue of energy saving and simpleness. The surface area and pore size analyzer was used to test the adsorption performance of zeolite and macroporous silica gel firstly. The possibility of electro-osmotic regeneration for zeolite and macroporous silica gel was analyzed combined with desiccant adsorption and electro-osmosis effects. The experiment results showed the critical moisture content of zeolite existing electro-osmosis effect was between 40%~55% when the voltage was 30V, which was higher than its saturation moisture content 35.7%. This method is not applicable for zeolite in dehumidification. As for the macroporous silica gel, the electro-osmotic flow occured while the moisture content was 105% which is lower than its saturation moisture content 114.2% and voltages were 40V, 50V and 60V. Electro-osmosis effect could reduce the moisture content of the macroporous silica gel when it was unsaturated.
