Summary
A state-of-the-art refrigerator comes supplied with a hermetic reciprocating compressor which operates either at constant or variable speed, depending on the compressor type. Semi-empirical approaches are an advisable method for the modelling of compressors in transient refrigerator cycle simulations. Based on the relevant thermodynamic parameters, different models are compared and their prediction capability is validated with transient measurement.
